The Positive: Two words: Freakin' Awesome! Director Joss Wheadon sets the bar high for other superhero movies this year for making "The Avengers" one of the smartest, highly-engaging, and most exciting in the genre ever. He succeeded in giving each of the superheroes a moment to shine while building a solid plot, taking the viewers to an unrelenting ride filled with stunning visual effects, fast-paced action sequences, and witty lines.

The Negative: The save-the-world plot is almost a staple for superhero movies and The Avengers is no exception. Good thing Wheadon provided a screenplay that is amazing as the visual effects, putting unpredictable twists to a familiar storyline. Where Michael Bay failed, Wheadon succeeded.
