"Born to Love You" is surprising in its humor as in its emotional texture.

Genre: Dramedy, Romance
Released By: Star Cinema
MTRCB Rating: PG-13
CEB Rating: B
Synopsis: A tour guide (Quinto) who hails from a poor family meets a struggling photographer (Martin) who has never gotten over his mother leaving when he was a kid. At first they get on each other's nerves but soon they realize that they are meant to be together. However, there are issues and circumstances that threaten to tear them apart.
The Positive: "Born to Love You" is surprising in its humor as in its emotional texture. It endears and entertains and trumps the preceding Star Cinema rom-com.
While Coco Martin exudes emotional depth to his character, Angeline Quinto delivers light moments. Their chemistry is undeniable. Plus the best thing about Quinto's acting debut is that she doesn't even know that she's funny.
The Negative: There are various subplots that are inadequately resolved like the character of Mickey Ferriols flirting with the character of Coco Martin making you think that a third party will be the upcoming conflict in the story.
Another weak point of the movie is the lack of a solid tone that will somehow leave you wondering, is it a romantic comedy or a romantic drama?
