Les Misérables, the film adaptation of the famed Broadway musical, has an edgier feel than the stage version because of its epic approach and emotional punch. A love-it-hate-it experience if you're not a fan of the genre.

Movie Info: Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever. In December 2012, the world's longest-running musical brings its power to the big screen in Tom Hooper's sweeping and spectacular interpretation of Victor Hugo's epic tale. --Universal

The Positive: The film adaptation of one of the most popular musicals of our time has an edgier feel than the stage versions that preceded it. Perhaps it's because of its epic approach and emotional punch plus the impeccable performance of its stellar cast (specially Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway).

The Negative: Hooper gives weight to the acting than singing which kinda makes this musical drama a love-it-hate-it experience.

Memorable Line: "Every day you walk with stronger step, you walk with longer step, and the worst is over."
