As if patriarch Grug (Cage) didn't already have enough to handle, it goes from bad to worse when they encounter an imaginative nomad named Guy (Reynolds.) With Guy's help the Croods conquer their fear of the outside world and discover that they have exactly what it takes to survive - each other. --Paramount

The Positive: With its dazzling visuals and engaging premise, "The Croods" sets the bar high for other animated flicks to be shown this year. Storywise, the film is filled with humorous antics mainly because the family dynamics, however uncivilized they may be, are so relatable. And when it comes to action and adventure, the film delivers in fast-paced fashion. As for the characters, they are charming, all of them. Thanks to the stellar cast particularly Nicholas Cage, Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone who provided great voice acting. Overall, the technical aspects of this film are superb and it has the potential to occupy the first slot of the five flicks worthy for the Oscar Best Animated Feature nomination this year.

The Negative: The "prehistoric-road-trip-for-survival" story line may come to some viewers as very Ice Age-ish but we have to consider its fresh take on father-daughter, father-mother-in-law, and father-daughter's-boyfriend relationships during the stone age amidst the dangerous creatures and catastrophes that surround them.

Memorable Line: "We never had the chance to explore the outside world because of my dad's one rule: Never leave the cave."
