The Host

The-Host-Movie-Poster-Large

"The Host" is a scifi romance film based from a book by Stephanie Meyer, the bestselling author of the "Twilight" novels which became monster hits at the box office. The latest Meyer-novel-movie can be described as another version of Twilight but with aliens.

Movie Info: What if everything you love was taken from you in the blink of an eye? "The Host" is the next epic love story from the creator of the "Twilight Saga," worldwide bestselling author, Stephenie Meyer. When an unseen enemy threatens mankind by taking over their bodies and erasing their memories, Melanie Stryder (Saoirse Ronan) will risk everything to protect the people she cares most about - Jared (Max Irons), Ian (Jake Abel), her brother Jamie (Chandler Canterbury) and her Uncle Jeb (William Hurt), proving that love can conquer all in a dangerous new world.

The Positive: We've seen a number of alien abduction movies in the past and what's fresh about "The Host" is that it takes the invader's point of view. The premise about a female body snatcher who sympathizes to its host and fall in love with a human is a love it or hate it concept. Perhaps it will depend to the moviegoer's expectation if he/she wants the film to be pure scifi or pure romance. I say it's 50/50. Since it's based from a novel by Stephanie Meyer, some "Twilight" elements are present that will certainly delight the legions of fans of the 'vampire-werewolf' film franchise.

The Negative: It's a story and screenplay by Stephanie Meyer that's why it's borderline silly as expected.

Memorable Line: “You are the noblest, purest creature I've ever met. The universe will be a darker place without you."
