"It Takes a Man and a Woman" sticks to the formula that made the first two films--"A Very Special Love" and "You Changed My Life"--such box office hits. A crowd-pleasing flick that will also make you fall in love again.

Gist: "It Takes a Man and a Woman" is the third and final installment in "A Very Special Love" series of films. It follows the life of Miggy (Cruz) and Laida (Geronimo) after their break-up which occur after the events of the second film. Miggy, who is now in a relationship with Isabelle (Daza) while Laida is now fiercer woman after living in the United States. They try to co-exist in the same company, while Laida tries to opposed Miggy's business decision. --Star Cinema
The Positive: The chemistry between John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo is so powerful that it's enough to fuel the film to work like its first and second installments. Their sweet moments as Laida and Miggy are the franchise's trademark, a surefire moneymaker if you must. Sarah is infectious and funny while John Lloyd is expressive and charming. Three movies will never be enough for the big screen pair to satisfy their fans, and I join their millions of followers who clamor for a part 4. As for the direction, Cathy Garcia-Molina knows exactly all the ingredients the movie-goers would like to see in the third film, and these are the same elements that made the 1st and 2nd installments very successful - the "sweets." But I like the way they inserted a theme of betrayal and forgiveness as it gave the story some edge and not just offer some idealized look at love. The supporting cast-members are commendable, too. Irma Adlawan and Al Tantay's portrayal of parents having marital problems validated Laida's big decision in the end. 'Zoila and Friends,' on the other hand, provided comic relief in the midst of deeper issues the main characters are having. And finally, Isabelle Daza's portrayal as Miggy's classy girlfriend gave a much-needed contrast to Sarah's quirky character. Overall, the film succeeded in acknowledging that a love need not be perfect to merit holding on to.
The Negative: The ending is borderline saccharine with the abundance of clichéd moments and trite phrases. It doesn't matter, though, because it will make you feel good afterwards.
Memorable Lines: Laida: “Ano ang kailangan nating gawin para makamit na natin ang kanilang matamis na 'oo'?” Miggy: “We buy it.” Laida: “Binabayaran mo ang 'Oo' ng nililigawan mo?. Parang wala naman akong natanggap na bayad noon?” Miggy: “Ako ba ang nanligaw noon?” Miggy: “It’s not the easiest but that is probably the best legacy that a person can leave behind.. To believe in goodness and just become a good man. This is the man I wanna be. For the first time in my life, I wanna be the last. I wanna be the last man you’ll ever love Laida. Can I be that man?” Laida: "First and last. You're hired."

The John Lloyd-Sarah tandem has never fizzled through the yrs. In fact, their four-year absence from the screen only served to benefit the movie. As much their fans missed them a lot, thus, they all flocked to movie houses to watch them over.
